Frequently asked questions
Do you have any questions? We have got you covered.
What exactly does Oralome do?
Oralome is a consumer education platform focused on chronic oral malodor (bad breath) and the oral microbiome. We help you understand possible contributors, organize your history, and prepare better questions for your dentist or doctor. We do not diagnose or treat any condition.
Are you a medical clinic or a lab?
No. Oralome is not a medical clinic and not a laboratory. We do not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or prescriptions, and we do not run any tests ourselves. Our role is to educate and guide you so you can have more informed conversations with licensed healthcare professionals.
Do you run oral microbiome or mNGS tests?
No. Oralome does not perform testing. We help you understand when and how to discuss modern diagnostic options — including mNGS-based oral microbiome or pathogen detection — with your own clinician, if they feel it is appropriate.
Who is Oralome for?
Oralome is designed for adults, especially working professionals, who feel socially or psychologically affected by chronic oral odor. If bad breath is impacting your relationships, confidence, or work life, our goal is to help you feel less alone and more prepared.
Is Oralome a replacement for seeing a dentist or doctor?
No. Oralome is not a replacement for professional medical or dental care. If you have persistent or severe symptoms — especially pain, bleeding, fever, or sudden changes — you should seek in-person care from a licensed healthcare provider.
How does your guidance actually work?
You complete structured self-assessments and guided checklists about your symptoms, habits, and history. Based on your responses, we provide educational content and suggestions for what to discuss with your dentist or doctor, including when to consider asking about advanced tests such as mNGS.
Will Oralome tell me which pathogen or disease I have?
No. Oralome never tells you that you “have” a specific pathogen or disease. Only a licensed healthcare professional, using clinical judgment and appropriate testing, can diagnose a condition.
Is my information private?
We take privacy seriously. Your responses and account data are stored securely and used only to provide your Oralome experience and improve our educational tools. We do not sell your personal data. You can request deletion of your account and associated information, subject to our data-retention policies.
Is Oralome covered by insurance?
Oralome is a direct-to-consumer educational service and is generally not billed through insurance. Any clinical visits or laboratory tests you pursue through your healthcare provider are separate and subject to their own costs and insurance rules.
What if my symptoms feel urgent or very severe?
If you experience severe pain, bleeding, fever, difficulty breathing, or any sudden major change in your mouth or throat, do not rely on Oralome. Contact your dentist, physician, urgent care, or emergency services immediately. Oralome is for education only and is not an emergency service.
